Kirsten's cold is getting better, my back is getting better, so we thought we should get in some skiing. Yesterday classic on a small loop - the Birch Loop; .5k, I didn' t get a time. Just to shake out the bones. Today we did the Balsam/Maple loop. Balsam's downhills were fun; Maple starts to get into the downhills that turn at the bottom. Of course the faster you can take them the less work you have to do on the following uphill. There's a couple of them to make life interesting.
The downhills were a bit intimidating for me, but success! No crashes. Several pauses on the way up to catch my breath, though. This was Kirsten's second visit to Maple loop; after starting out by telling me she might not be on her best form, she scooted right along, finishing well ahead of me by the end and in good spirits.
I tried the lower stance in the V1. It made some difference, but the steeper uphills seemed to negate that. I suppose practice will tell.
